Piranha ignition.

Trying to start my S3 after a partial rebuild without success. What i can’t understand is this:- Plugs out placed on cylinder heads, turn engine, over spark and flash on xenon timing light. Refit plugs, turn engine over no flash on timing light. I can remember having plugs afraid of the dark on decrepit points system, but can it happen on Pirhana ignition? Doing the test of looping contacts produces a good spark, passing card through optical sensors does the same. Coils, plugs, plug caps & leads are all new and low volt wiring is in good condition. I tried refitting old components to no avail. If i swap feed from the ign box at the coil i get back fires through the exhaust as expected so the plugs are firing but seemingly not when under compression.
Am i missing something or do i just buy a Newtronic system?

Dodgy plugs? There are a lot of fakes out there, especially NGK I believe.

Thanks for the reply, tried good used plugs, same result.
