Raticosa Pass, Tuscany

The Raticosa pass is stunning and a must if you are visiting Tuscany, e.g. for Mugello GP.

It is a minor road full of switchbacks through the Appenines between Bologna and Firenze . At the weekend it is full if mad Italian bikers treating it like a racetrack, and there is a cafe at the top with fab views. Quite a long ride but well worth it. The surface is mainly very good.

what is the road number ?

You take the SP65 south out of Bologna. It seems to merge into SR65 later on. It winds up in the general vicinity of Mugello.

mix it in with the old road , and you will be glad of the stop half way down , you will get bored of hard slow cornering …but worth it !
