So ..I was having another lovely tour of parts of the UK and was on the Yorks moors. Having found myself on a steep hill and needing to go back the way I had come I had a FFS moment as my momentum was not enough for the turn… a slow motion drop followed and managed to bend the rear brake pedal, its still functional and is in fact ok to use but clearly bent!
My question is having read a bit is about whether to heat it up and bend back, is that safe to do long term or should I bite the bullet and find a replacement pedal…and any search ideas for that…cheers all.
When the lever got bent it probably work hardened, so if bent back cold it is likely to snap.
Every different aluminium alloy work hardens under different loads and relaxes at different temperatures. However in my experience this has always worked; hold the lever firmly in an aluminium jawed vice, and rub both sides of the bent area with soap. When the soap dries heat the lever keeping the flame off one sideso you can see the soap change colour to indicate temperature.
Heat it until the soap turns black and hold the temp there for 5min. Let cool down and bend it straight. You really have only one go at this as the bending work-hardens it again.

Thanks @350lcjohnny for the advice, will find a suitable vice at a mates house and give it a go.
