You’ll possibly have issues with the side and/or mainstand
Fitted rear lowering ring for 25mm and lowered front by 16 mm
Side stand cut and welded 25 mm shorter.
Can almost flat foot with my 5ft 7in
I just fitted a Hyperpro spring that lowered the bike about 20mm and also dropped front forks by similar amount to keep alignment. I did not have to shorten sidestand as it still gives a fair amount of lean.
Putting it on the centre stand is unchanged.
I would say that it has transformed the bike from a riding perspective and I find it easier to move around. Have had it 5 years so wish I had done the change earlier.
Additionally had the seat remodelled with softer memory foam. The front corners are lower and softer so I have in effect a lower seat. Done by Sussex Motorcycles cost £150.
Just got my first Guzzi - the V85TT - and I need to get my feet a smidge closer to the floor.
Wanted to ask for the exact rear spring people have used - I can see two types on the Hyperpro website, “Model with Hydraulic preload adjuster” or “Model with Hydraulic preload”
I have no idea what the difference is - any help appreciated
This is the page ref at Hyperpro for the spring that I fitted to my 2019 V85TT.
It comes down to the model year. If your’s is 2024/2025 then you will want the Hydraulic Preload adjuster variant
Superb, much appreciated
I am going to get a shorter shock on mine as just fitting a shorter spring means you lose top 25mm of suspension movement. If that does not worry you then a short spring is much cheaper
Ah that sounds interesting - let us know on here which shock you go for?
Well i was looking at the Shock Factory ‘M Shock’ supplied by Winding Roads in UK https://www.windingroads.co.uk/brand/shock-factory-uk/moto-guzzi-shock-absorbers/moto-guzzi-uk-shock-absorbers
Vulpine2 from this site has fitted one
But as I have just had to shell out £700 for a laptop (my own clumsiness) and £520 for a tumble dryer and £340 for a boiler repair and £200 for a phone i am a bit boracic till 2026 ![]()
Received my new M shock - fitted and will review on next ride. Looks good and the whole bike feels & looks better 25mm lower.
Does the 25 mm lower mean the same amount loss of suspension travel? I have removed the preload adjuster with a collar made in Germany. This keeps the full 150 mm of suspension, although the sag may not be correct.
If you reduce preload by any means the bike’s ride height will drop. That means that any up and down movements required by the road surface will occur lower in the suspension units range (and may bottom out). So changng the spring preload will drop the bike and reduce avaialable suspension
I am hoping that M shock have supplied a shorter unit so i will have the same wheel travel in the suspension sweet spot with a lower seat….. But as that is quite difficult to achieve i am only hopeful
I bought the M shock - V 85 TT 19-22 Lowered version -25mm seat height .
My 5000miles review -
The reduced seat height is brilliant - i have 29 1/2 inside leg (UK average) now I can get on or off more easily and as I can touch the ground with slightly bent legs i can walk it back into and out of spaces and stop in awkward places when traffic requires.
The suspension is better than a 20,000 mile stock unit - not a night and day difference but more controlled and more comfortable over bumps and 6hr riding - also find i am tipping the bike harder into corners and it feels more confident and accurate.
Front lowering as well - I have just dropped the forks through the yokes to make the bike level and restore the steering angle, so the end of the stanchion is now 25mm (EDITED) above the top yoke.
Handling improved again - more stable and solid when ‘flicking’ through bends, the bike just feels much more in touch with the road - more than 25mm through seemed to make it more twitchy in slow manouevering: welsh lanes and traffic
The side stand is fine -better than some Ducatis- if parking on a slope you need to park leaning downwards, but an advantage is that it is easier to pick up off the stand. No need to shorten it
The centre stand is higher
, it is possible but not nice (on the other hand wheel removal is less of a pain)
This pic was when I had the shorted suspension but not dropped the forks
