Rear light differences MK1 Lemans

Hi guys, first post on the forum, so take it easy on me.

Just looking for a MK1 Lemans and I’ve noticed that there seem to be some differences in the rear light configurations on various bikes I’ve looked at. I’ve read that the first 500 had Ducati 900SS lights but there also seem to be two other options, with an all colour matched light that looks integrated with the mudguard and a separate mudguard with black light cluster.

Just wan’t to make sure I’m buying something right for that model.

Appreciate your help.

Jamie

As far as I am aware, there are only two versions of the LeMans rear light, the early models like in your photo above, or the later one with the black rear light like this (Picture pinched off the internet) The 750S3 had the Ducati style rear light fitted, but I don’t think they were ever used on the LeMans models.

That’s great thank you. I read that the first 500 lemans’s had the Ducati rear light but again, never trust what you read on the internet!

Appreciate the help.

This is the earlier 750S with the Ducati type rear light that never made it past the 750S3 and onto the Le Mans.

You have to love the Perspex Le Mans style handlebar fairing, I want one!

The actual light unit on the photo you put up was also used on some Ducati models, but with a different mounting. That is probably where the confusion arises from.

Don that is the same light and bracket that was on the 1974 850T

Yes you are correct, it’s the mounting that threw me.

Thanks all

My understanding is/was 1976 - 1978, ‘oval’ rear light (single bulb), 1978 > ‘black’ rear light (dual bulbs).
