OK - is this stuff going to help the 1200? Motorsport reckon the throttle bodies need taking off and ultrasonically cleaning, after 40,000 miles of dodgy petrol they have got coated and gummed up.
The job is at least a days work!! + they will not guaruntee that the high idling and occasional small backfire on tickover won’t go.

I’ve started using the expensive petrol to see if that helps - but if a bottle of redex might clear things out …

its not going to do anything to the throttle bodies… the injectors are on the engine side of them so the redex will go no where near them…Your throttle bodies will have any dirt that has got past the air filter and an oily vapour from the crank case breather coating them but definatly not petrol

Thanks Iain… you have hit the nail on the head - it is the Bell Mouth intakes that despite being under the seat they were saying would suck in all kinds of crap - then on top of that petrol residues.

Agreed with those before though… it can’t do any harm

spray of carb cleaner round the throttle flap is about all you can do, but dont flood the engine with the stuff, best to leave the plugs out for an hour with the throttle held wide if you were unlucky enough to filll a barrel with it.

If I can remember correctly, there was a factory notification to clean the build up of carbon in the throttle bodies at every major service. This build up of carbon causes the increase in tickover revs, and while in there, it’s a good idea to give the stepper motor a thorough clean. Then get the FI set up/checked by your favourite expert.
