Relay Puzzles

Yep, arcing builds up crud at the contact points, this creates extra resistance which can either

A. stops enough current getting through (click-no-start)

B. adds excessive heat (Ohms law, I x R = V, V x I = Watts), so might end up spot-welded together!

Relays do have a finite life, as datasheets usually specify as ‘X’ number of operations, conditionally variable by whatever the load is.

Appendix ~ what you could do (just remembered) is temporarily try one of the other relays in its place, provided it’s the same pin connections etc.

That makes sense, I did wonder.

So, it looks like I might have at least part of the FI version loom

However, Carl Allinsons wiring diag for the injecte version shows 6. Does the 6th one normally live with the other 5 or somewher else on the bike?tris2012-09-23 15:12:54

I asked the Bretherin on Wild Guzzi the question and it appears that the Digiplex has its own relay controled supply.
