After a few years absence from the club I have decided to rejoin
Previously I have owned a 750 brava then a california vintage . I now own a laverda 750. I would like to get another guzzi to join the laverda . I have always loved these Italian bikes and ridden them for over 45 yrs now.
The first big italan bike that I owned was the laverda Mirage.
Anyway that’s a brief rundown on my italian bike ownership. Good to be back in the membership
Welcome back, that Guzzi bug never leaves you.
I had a mate with a Mirage, an awesome beast of a thing it was. So different from my Le-mans of the time.
I am thinking along the lines of a v50 mark 3. I like the idea of a smaller bike and carbs.
With my bigger Guzzi I had the issue of the fuel pump packing in I replaced it myself but then had the fuel line pop off in the tank. I always serviced all my bikes myself but have liked the carb models.
and as I am getting older I like the idea of having a smaller lighter bike to go alongside the Laverda, so I can carry on riding. Probably looking at sometime next year to add this bike.
V50 III has points ignition, but the earlier V50 and V50 II had electronic ignition. If you are happy to maintain the bike yourself then the points version has a lot going for it.
There are a few owners on the forum with V50s and I’m sure you will receive some pearls of wisdom.
Thanks Neil. Take your time - it’s like picking from a chocolate box. I’ve had the T since the late 80s so might easily decide to keep it, once I start booming round the back lanes again. Cheers, Ian.
Welcome Neil.. a pal had a 750 Laverda, don’t see em often these days eh, or indeed any Laverda’s, (saw a nice one at the Manx last week though, see pic) I can vividly recall way back in the day watching a Jota eating up all comers as it came on cam down Park Straight at Cadwell.. great memories.
Hope you find something to suit soon, whereabouts in the world are you.?
Laverdas are fantastic bikes but spares and dealers are starting to become scarcer and more expensive. I still enjoy the laverda when I ride it and just looking at it. Its definitely a bike to keep, hopefully I can get a guzzi to go with it as I have enjoyed riding and owning them as well. Italians certainly know how to make fantastic bikes. I will download a photo when i have worked out how to do it. I live in South Shields so the countryside isn’t far
There was a nice V50 at a local cafe meet at Coxhoe Gem Cafe last Tuesday. I didn’t get to talk to the owner unfortunately as I was just passing in the car.
I’ve always fancied a V50 myself, seems to be a very underrated bike.
