Returning new member in Lancashire

Hello all, I was in MGCGB in the 90s and up until about 2004, now back again. I guess I need to catch up with Steve and co at the Pennine Branch.
Still have my 1993 Spada 3 which I have just put off the road for a bit of a rebuild. Forks are in pieces at the moment due to a clonky damper. One of them seems ok when testing on the bench but the other one sometimes knocks when first pushing down on the spring. What is the best way to get the stanchion top threaded plug off the Bitubo damper rod?
Also have a 1999 Centauro, a somewhat different beast to the Spada !!

KingOrry, thanks for that. Had the Spada from new so kind of attached to it even though it seems to get heavier every time I ride it. :frowning_face_with_open_mouth:
