Rider to pillion intercom.

Has anybody got a recommendation for the above. I just want a basic waterproof system thats easy to use. Talk to pillion is the priority and maybe connect to my Aoocci C3.

Ta muchly.

interphone comms kits are sena compatible and much cheaper than sena.

I’ve got a schuberth with sena comms and the sound quality from pillion with interphone was very good.

used in rain often and no problems

Depending what you want, there’s loadsa stuff available now, from the ‘expensive’ top branded all-singing & dancin’ stuff, to el cheapo ones from Temu & AliExpress etc.

I’d suggest talking to your local takeaway delivery riders to see which cheap ones work, they’ll probably use them more than anyone. For the expensive stuff maybe have a chat with a bike school.

Personally, I bought a couple of BT ones from Aldi a decade ago, they were £30.

While I do connect to my Garmin, I’ve never been interested in listening to the radio or music while riding, always happy enough to mumble to myself when alone. Mostly ours are a simple and easy way to chit-chat, discuss the need for an cuppa or the loo, and point stuff out as we ride.

Ten years on me and the missus still use em. They’ve been all over with us and they continue to work happily, linking to each other and my SatNav.

Battery life is still good for 5hrs+ talktime, sometimes on longer days I’ll connect them to my battery via a twin usb and top-up the charge if we stop for lunch etc. The sound quality/volume is acceptable to us, and having ridden through all kinds of weather, they’re seemingly waterproof.

I’d happily buy some more cheap ones of the tinterweb should these die, they perfectly suit my needs, but equally I might be tempted by a name brand as a dual kit can easily be had for less than £200.

I guess it’s all down to what you need and how deep your pockets are, but if you’ve never used them before, be prepared for a revelation.

Being able to hold a conversation is taken for granted when driving a car, but having ridden together for 45 years now, my wife and I were truly amazed at how much of a difference they made to our motorcycle trips, we found they’ve transformed every journey.

We use a pair of Sena SM5H, which work very well and are now quite cheap - £59.99 each unit https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/295166?utm_source=OracleResponsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=MCN-E-M-250904-AFFIL-AQC-BSP The helmet side mounting does not seem to add any aerodynamic noise which surprised me

We had a pair of Sena SMH5s for years. Very very good, loud and clear and easy to use. Which is everything you need. Batteries failed due to age/use and no simple swap out, although replacements are available but it’s not quite plug and play. I buggered up one trying to fit a battery and decided to get another Sena basic model instead of persevering with smh5 and as they were marginally cheaper- R5 I think. They are rubbish and even worse when I changed helmet and discovered speakers wouldn’t fit in my new Nolan helmet so had to buy a Nolan intercom. Which does integrate into helmet nicely but paired with the R5 using universal intercom is rubbish for both us.

So, Smh5 recommended as long as it fits into both helmets. If not get a matched pair that does fit and make sure they use the proprietary pairing thing, as “universal intercom” is, in my experience, not very good.

We were very pleased with our Sena SRL-2 built-in on our Shoei helmets; both rider-pillion and bike to bike.

Not cheap, but good quality and being built-in (actually made for the Shoei and easily fitted) no problems with wind noise or buffeting.

Wife and I have the cardo spirit HDs. Been great.
I would say that sometimes the distance they work varies, but have taken us all over for years in all weathers. Easy to use and will over a full day riding on one charge.
