Sena 10S and MIA

Has anyone managed to pair their Sena with the MIA?
Mine shows as paired on the bike but the headset just sits in pairing mode. A tad annoying

What, pray, is an MIA? Is it a model specific item?

It’s the Bluetooth module for the modern Guzzis, young Sir

Thanks, again: model specific? Or all ā€œnew modelsā€? The MG site did not educate me to this extent.

As far as I know it’s all the models with the TFT screen. Definitely the short blocks anyway

Let me try once more. What model is your Guzzi that has this MIA thing?

So I have a V100 Stelvio, the MIA also fits the other V100 bikes.
Additionally, the V85 Strada and TT.

Possibly others but I’m not sure

i have a sena comms kit paired to MIA and it works well, although the intercom via the bike is nowhere near as clear as direct helmet to helmet, most of the time I’m using it to play music. also have taken phone calls via MIA and that works fine too

have you installed the app on your phone? you need to do the pairing via the app, it tells MIA which is a phone and what is a helmet etc and designates helmet 1 and helmet 2 (pilot and pillion)

I’d paired it on the bike as the App doesn’t display properly.
I’ll delete all the connections and start again

Do what Sidthedid says and it will be fine, I have the same set up. To be honest though I deleted the pairing as I find the MIA system is rather lacking to say the least. The biggy for me is you can only use the Guzzi app for navigation which is less than stella. I reverted back to separate Garmin unit that also deals with my music simples. I do connect the Guzzi app to the bike to keep it updated with service reminders etc, at least that’s what I think its doing

Must admit I’m not a fan of any phone based navigation system. Too dependant on a decent data signal. As I often drive in Europe, crossing borders is a bugger for the signal going awol. Meanwhile, my Garmin sits on the bar just above the Stelvio dash and looks mighty fine.

tomtom do a phone app with offline maps that doesn’t need a connection but it’s 3.99 a month I’ve tried it out and it is good, but i only rent it when i need it

I’m going to recommend the app called Copilot that I’ve been using since 2009. A single payment buys a map for a country or continent and lifetime updates. The maps are good, the routing works well, points of interest include speed cameras (strangely they call these Safety Cameras, but I’m sure that’s a mistranslation from Dutch).

I’ve used the app in countries across Europe as well as the US, Africa and Asia. Have a charging Quadlock holder and a Bluetooth intercom for the guidance and ā€˜safety’ warnings. Only drawback is that it doesn’t import other people’s route files.

Interesting.
Not heard of that one.

I still have copilot on my phone as well as a Garmin on the bike.

As I use Copilot with a Sena intercom also used for occasional phone calls and chatting to riding friends, I’m not sure what additional capabilities MIA could add?

the advantage of mia for me is phone can be in pocket, and media/phone controlled by the handlebar controls.

if you always mount phone for navigation and have the sena Bluetooth handlebar controls then there isn’t any reason to get mia

I had the MIA fitted on Tuesday.

Main thing for me was that you can change tracks and start and stop music easily.

Took a little while to pair my iPhone to the bike. But after that ok. I haven’t added my helmet to the bike. It’s just connected to the phone. Reason I haven’t added the helmet to the bike is due to me not knowing if it would interfere with the pack talk slim I use.

Fingers crossed I’ll be able to get out with some of the guys soon to check it all works as I want it to.

you can stop music but not start it, unless you add some automation. I have mine set up to auto start the music player after a fixed delay

I just start the music on my phone before getting on the bike and then you can just pause it when needed and unpause afterwards.

I’m intrigued to find out how well (or not) it handles packtalk (or other comms) when playing audio. My guess is that as I’d have to either be on comms or listening to music. I’ll have to have a read of the packtalk manual again. Not sure if you can listen to music and have comms running. So that music is low in background while talking to the boys on comms.
