Sparkplugs

My V7 850 is fast approaching 12,000 miles and as per Guzzi service schedule the sparkplugs are supposed to be replaced, but as they are the super duper iridium ones that are supposed to last ages,my question is…
Has anyone not replaced them at 12,000 miles and if so how are they doing?

If you leave them longer make sure you gap then as they do wear

Thanks Brian

All I can add is, not changed mine yet at 6,000 miles. Still the factory ones. I do have spares but I’m hanging on to them long as poss. Gap is 0.7mm or 0.03" in old money. Do not do what I did once and assume 1mm = 0.025 inch, it isn’t! Goodness knows where that came from. (It’s 0.041"!) Had to change them back, still ran tho. I did think it was a bit odd I had to bend the electrodes that much.

AFAIK you can’t and must not adjust the gap on an iridium plug. On a slow revving bike like a V7 I expect the plugs to last at least 30,000 miles. I have no intention of even checking the plugs until there is evidence of a problem.

Sorry to be pedantic, but, 0.7mm equals 0.028", likewise 1mm equals 0.039".

Thanks for that, I was merely rounding up. :grinning:
