Speedo fault

Hello just been out for a ride on my guzzie noticed that speedo needle does not drop below 20 m p h any ideas would greatly received cheers the bike is a mk1 t3 callie 1980

In my experience they are not very accurate instruments. I sent my 1974 clocks to Speedy Cables in Wales (other instrument specialists are available!) and they have serviced and rebuilt them both and also added new dials, chrome bezels and painted the cases, they look like new. Not something you would want to do at the start of the riding season.

If it troubles you get them sorted over the winter when you are not using the bike, otherwise just live with it!

My T3 has a peg that stops the needle dropping below 10mph

My Spada is actually pretty accurate, certainly within 5% compared to a sat nav.

My speedo was always wildly optimistic but I can live with that!

My late '70s Vaguely-a-speedo ( Le Mans ) is about 20% optimistic, but also quite erratic if it’s not been used in a while. It’s what they do. After some enthusiastic use it settles down to that 20% over figure. I just live with it.

Probably the needle sticking due to the lack of lubrication ? Lube the cable ?

tickles me the way they bounce all over the place especially at lower revs. I treat the rev counter more as a decoration and just listen to the beast instead.
