I was sent this by a friend who did the Stelvio Pass with me last year, neither of us had similar mishaps!

Have fun Chris

Ahh man! That is utterly awesome! Man up everyone and tell me you’ve never been there!

It is the absolute confirmation of the reality of obsession with top heavy too tall bikes that are “OK once you are moving” The weight just goes away? Then it comes back and bites you right in your tenderest parts! Thanks for sharing Chris.

Done it this year with 4 mates. Box ticked!

Unless you’ve done it, you don’t appreciate how tight and steep the turns are. We did it East to West and I think thats the most difficult because on many turns you can’t see your exit, too sharp and too high. I had an idea of what was to come when I saw a GS being pulled out of a hedge as we left the Hotel Madatsch. I did feel I rode it like an old man but the seeing the video makes me feel a lot better. Nice one.

My Stelvio was misfiring at low revs due to a slightly short HT lead, I had to rev the engine all the way up, not good and very distracting when I wanted to enjoy the ride!

Best wishes Chris

Looks like a common theme - low speed and when putting a leg down they all chose the ‘inside’ leg.

Not that I’m an expert in any way and am still to try that ride.

Yes the inside leg, it is the side the bike is leaning towards but it is down hill so the furthest to stretch!

You can be unlucky with traffic coming the other way on the busy passes in my experience. I have never done the Stelvio but did the Gotthard and Lauteret on my loop over the summer. Very steady on both uphill and down as it has poor brakes and little ground clearance, although pulls well at low speed.

Tackled it in June this year , just to make it interesting it was in the middle of a thunderstorm , water racing down the hairpins , at least it was quieter than usual !, tailed a couple of Dutch guys who were going for it in the bends , followed their lines,

Couple of (off topic - apologies) questions, which screen is that? And does it provide enough wind deflection?

Getting a bit chilly riding my V7 now.

Hi , it’s a Dart Marlin, not the tallest screen about but it makes a difference , tried a taller Puig but had a weave set in so went back to Dart[ might of been a combination of top box , panniers & hand guards]

, rider weight /height can give different outcomes, there is some adjustment with it ,
