Hello, can anyone tell me why I find two different sizes of rear wheel for 2009 -2014 Stelvio. 17 x 4.25 and 17 x 5.5 Is one better than the other? I understand that the 4.25 was fitted to the NTX but why? Would it be wrong to fit a 5.5 to the NTX? I ask because I have the offer of a set of spoked wheels to replace my alloys, which I don’t much like.
I would think very carefully before putting spoked wheels on your bike, they are tubeless and each spoke has an O ring to seal the air in, the spokes are stainless, the spoke nuts and washers are mild steel and the rims are aluminium, put all of that together with a wet salty winter and you are inviting problems.
One of my spoke seals failed when the bike was still under warrantee and the dealer swapped the whole spoke, nut, washer and seal. Before it could happen again I swapped the wheels for cast wheels, so far (10 years on) zero maintenance.
