Stornello Scrambler - woken up

This weekend I thought I’d dig out my oily rag Stornello Scrambler because I was at an event yesterday and thought it’d be good take it with me. It’s been in storage and mostly inaccessible since I last used it regularly back in 2006.

Amazingly, the 6 volt battery seemed ok too, I expected it to be dead. Topped it up, and trickle charged it over night. Cleaned and blew carb through, checked jets were clear. Cleaned plug. Checked oil. Added a tiny bit of fresh fuel. Connected battery, choke on - starts first kick. Amazing. So simple and robust. Ended up riding it around the field at the event yesterday for the first time in six years - aren’t Guzzis great?

I am trying to bite my tongue so I dont blurt out. "Ill swap you for my Yamaha" That is a lovely little bike. Steve

Mmm…Guzzi or Yamaha, Yamaha or Guzzi…sorry Steve - Guzzi wins…

Very nice

Maybe you have not seen my Yamaha in the “For Sale” section

Steve

Yes I did, very sweet. I already have an '85 XT600 Tenere that needs some attention too, so am all Yamaha’d out for now…

That looks a wonderful functional machine. The guy who designed the chain guard may have been working at the wrong scale. I still lust after another 370 Bultaco Frontera. It had an exhaust system that looked like a 88mm tank gun. I rode it around London for a bit and it used to scare the life out of people.
