Suggested oils for the Carbed 1100 California 3

Simple question.
I just got the 1100 California 3 - the 1994 carbed model.
What would you suggest would be the best oils to use in this machine?

When I had the 950 a miillion years ago, I used Morris 10/40 in the engine and Castrol EP80/90 in the gearbox.
I think I also used the EP80/90 in the shaft too, but its going back a few years.

The thing is that I have read a few places that 20/50 should be used , and various other weird suggestions for the Gearbox and the Shaft?

What do you suggest?

Many thanks.

I always follow the Guzzi recommended grades on my bikes which is 20/50 in the main engine and EP90 gear oil in the gearbox and rear bevel box (with a bit of Molyslip added). Your bike is a bit newer than mine so the spec may have changed.
You can find the user manual here (along with parts books, wiring diagrams etc)

those oils are still available. if you thought they did a good job then, and can obtain them, use them.

or: others will tell you how synthetic oils are the new black.

MGCGB have an ‘arrangement’ with Opie Oils, I believe.

Thank you for that bud.
I have not long found the old Haynes manual for it… I did also have a workshop manual, but thats long gone.

I used to use MORRIS 10/40 car oil in the 950, not even use Motorcycle oil.

I guess that is the slow revving of the Guzzi makes it better for that oil perhaps?

Anyway, I will get whatever I can, so thanks for the link!

It doesn’t need a motorcycle specific oil as it doesn’t lubricate the clutch, I normally use the Halfords classic 20/50.
