Got to putting on my sump , and noticed , apart from one cap head missing that i have two caps ,that are bigger/longer than the Others . Is this the Case , and if so where do they go . 78 T3 Thanks in Advance
Don’t count on it but if its like my cali they go in the centre of the sump, the 2 bolts that first timers miss when removing the sump and bash the sh… out of it wondering why it won’t come off.
There are 14 bolts along the edge and two sets of two longer bolts in the inner of the sump, approx 2 inches in from the outer edge.make sure the gasket is fitted the right way so these inner bolts can be fitted correctly.

Along the sides it doesn’t really matter about the length , within reason . The threaded holes go all the way through the casting and into open air . Useful if the threads are getting a bit stripped out . Run a tap through to clean out the threads as they will be corroded and filled up with years of road dirt.
The longer bolts you show aren’t long enough to be the inner ones.

First I’ve heard of the inner ones being longer. I thought it was just a case of two odd length bolts getting mixed in.
