Sunday is the third in the month, which means it’s ride-out time: this month’s run will take us from Moor to Sea, meeting in Buckfastleigh and finishing up with lunch at the Start Bay Inn, Torcross. Most of you will know that Torcross has taken a real beating over the winter, so we’re going to turn up at Gail’s pub by the sea and show solidarity by partaking of their excellent fish’n’chips (other options are available), enjoying some excellent roads along the way, including my insider’s tip on how to ride the Slapton Line despite the road closure.
Rendezvous at Birdie’s Kitchen, Buckfastleigh Railway Station, TQ11 0DZ, excellent coffee guaranteed, at 10am for a 10.30 start. Fuel (including Super) is available nearby.
Hi All. I’m new to biking and am a really proud owner of a new V7 Special (great first bike). I would love to come on these ride outs but this is just too short notice for me. Is there a schedule so I can put futures ones in my diary? Thanks. David

Hi David. Third Sunday of every month. Your V7 won’e be alone, I have one as well. Great bike.
Too late for me as well. Now in diary. V100 Exeter.
Hi Dave, and welcome. We try to organise a ride on the third Sunday of every month during the season. This month’s was a rather last-minute affair - March is often not the best time to be out on a bike - but we were swayed by the lovely weather. You can count on the third Sunday from now until September at least ( and maybe even October!) and we’ll put up the meet details on the website at least a couple of days ahead.

Okay, great. See you third Sunday in April then.
For those who asked, this was our route on Sunday: A quick circuit of the south moor to enjoy the twisties and those gorgeous open vistas between Poundsgate and Yelverton, then dodging the sheep and ponies from Cadover Bridge over Lee Moor to Cornwood, down through the old plantation to Ivybridge, scoot up to Wrangaton to jump the A38, pick up the old Dartmouth road at California Cross, descend to cross the Avon at Gara Bridge, then up through Morleigh and Halwell to Dartmouth . . .

. . . by which point a stop was required, just long enough for a photo opportunity on the Embankment in front of a rigged training ship. Then onwards, via Warfleet Creek, to pick up the A379 just outside Stoke Fleming, down the hill to Blackpool Sands, up through the hairpins to Strete, and down again to the Slapton Line; follow it as far as the road closure at Slapton Turn, then though the village and via the tiniest back roads over Deer Bridge to Stokenham, and finally to Torcross and the promised fish and chips at the Start Bay Inn! We started with nine machines (one never left Plymouth after a wing-mirror malfunction) and finished with seven – 3 Tontis, 2 Brevas, a Griso and a V7, with a combined age (of the bikes!) in excess of 170 years.
Join us for more fun on Sunday 19 April – details will be posted here.

Thanks Piers for posting this up. And as a reminder for anyone else interested its our monthly branch lunch at the Avon Inn on the first Saturday of the month in less than a weeks time. The food is good and the craic is mighty. Well I would say that……
I really have to crack on with the film photos I took on the day - B/W some of them I suspect will be quite “arty”.
