Switched accessory socket under seat

have found the switched superseal plug under the seat of my bike. does anyone know the max amperage that this supply is safe with? at present, I have now wired a couple of accessory daytime running lights (20 w) and an accessory usb socket so I assume about 2 amp so far. I would like to install heated grips and wonder if the socket will allow that also?
these would use a further 2.5 Amps. Does anyone know if the accessory socket can handle 5 amp but really for safety 7.5 amps?

which model bike is it?

sorry, it is a 2021 v7 850 E5 special

According to the wiring diagram I’ve got, it’s on the same circuit as headlamp flasher (‘Pass’ button) and ‘Light logic relay’ (ECU switches headlight on after start-up), and it comes off fuse ‘B’ in the fuebox, 15A.

If you blow this fuse you will have no headlight.

Appendix (edit): 850 Special uses a H4 bulb so that’s 5 Amps for high beam.

If you want to power various accessories you could look at a Thunderbox by Heal Tech. A great little device which I have been using on all my bikes for several years. About £80 and you can move it from bike to bike when you change bikes and connect up to 4 or up to 8 accessories using simple Wago connectors.

Thanks I was actually looking at doing that if the switched output has too low a current rating.

thanks for that, mike H, that is helpful, there does therefore seem to be a bit of headroom with this output and the cable to the socket looks like 15 amp type, so should be ok??? I will let you know if my headlight fails!

I would have hoped 15A was enough, bearing in mind that isn’t the current that blows the fuse, but the maximum.

I wired my day light running lights into the parking light circuit as I run with the headlight on as well just make you have canbus lights.

I wired my 850 Stone in to take a USB socket off the Superseal accessory socket if that’s the one your talking about? If so, I’m pretty sure it runs off a 7.5 amp connection in the fuse box?

Thanks, yes it is, I was referring to the V7 III wiring diagram because that’s all I’ve got - the actual fuses are what you said.

Thanks everyone, sorry for the radio silence but I was on a cruise with no internet! very helpful. I have put usb and 2 x accessory 10w led lights off the superseal connector and if I add heated grips I think i will use thunderbox or equivelan

The plug with the red cap is connected to the battery.
The the plug on the right is connected to the relay positive and negative.
I have installed the relay behind the R/H side panel.
The relay is triggered by a connection to the Superseal plug in the centre.
At the moment the relay only provides power to my satnav but I may install a small fuse block and use it to power hot grips, aux lights and a USB port. It’s a work in progress and not very neat as yet.

Sorry,a bit late to the party, l have used this socket to power the front and rear cameras on my V85 for the last 5 years with no problems.

Hi all. I piggy backed a fuse today to run my sp connect iPhone charger. I hadn’t made a proper connection when I put it on the other week and only just had the chance to fix it. Working great now :grinning::+1:
