What an amazing weekend! We decided against heading down to see our Gontish Welsh brethren because of the weather, instead heading North to the land of amazing roads and the wild Haggis. Rode to York Saturday morning, where Steve was trading his 1050 triumph in for a BMW 850 GS before heading North in glorious sunshine to Hartlepool to grab a beer with my lad who turned 18 in October, (He’s the giant with my mates wife under his arm!) . A night on the beer and a big breakfast at the Premier Inn before heading West through Weardale to Alston, fantastic roads with virtually no traffic. A hot brew in Alston before heading North for Hexham and Haltwistle and on to the Borders. Coming out of a wood and seeing the newly resurfaced road like a black ribbon undulating and winding its way across empty moorland was absolutely fecking incredible! Not a car I sight. Exhaust barking and the induction roar of the Goose mounting we literally howled across the moors! Probably one of the best rides of my life! Finally we stopped at a brilliant pub just outside Howick (Hoik), Good grub, great beer and even better company! An early start Sunday morning saw us to Jedburgh and the A68, again, no traffic as we rode South to Darlington, then over the moors of North Yorkshire and finally home! 500+ miles of winding A roads, back roads and lanes with a minimum of dual carriageways. Over six hours in the saddle each day and I could still walk at the end of it! (Not bad considering I broke my spine and shattered my pelvis just 3 years ago). The v85 is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden in over 45 years of riding! Only downside was the 3 hours it took to clean the Goose today!

That’s what it should be like mate. I’m the same as you. Been riding a long time and lots of different bikes but when I close the garage door I give my Guzzi a last loving look
