Too much engine oil in 2025 v7 sport euro+

Just had first service at dealer on my brand new v7 sport.( Engine oil level on delivery was just on minimum level on spy glass.)

After service, oil level is above maximum.Surely this cannot be correct ? Called dealer and he said mechanic is very experienced/ has done loads of v7’s etc etc.

I have read about the numerous problems with overfilling engine oil on these.

Is it common for dealers to overfill ?

If you are at all concerned, drop it, measure it, and then put the right amount back in. Who’s going to know, other than you? It’s your bike, after all.

Hopefully other V7 Sport owners can chime in with their personal experience.

Almost goes without saying this, but: what does manual say? And: are you “reading” the level correctly? (Bike on center stand, level ground, etc). Just a few thoughts, hope they help.

Easy fix, Just purchase a small plastic syringe plus pipe and take the oil out through the filler plug .

bike on centre stand is the reason they get over filled. they should be checked on the wheels. dealers fill them on stand for convenience which means too much oil is put in.

yes, I’ve had this happen twice with 2 different dealers.

Thanks all for your advice.

It is just a bit depressing when you spend £10k on a bike and then spend another £200 and get such shoddy service.

I would do the servicing myself but the warranty threat is always a worry.

Decided to forget the dealer, syphoned off some of the oil myself and then do my own servicing.

Has the v7 got the same service advice as the v85tt? Apparently the v85 oil level should be checked when all oil galleries are full and not when it is cold and they have drained down, as that makes it look over-full

From the manual “THE OIL LEVEL MUST BE CHECKED WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM……. PREFERABLY CHECK THE OIL AFTER A JOURNEY OF AFTER TRAVELLING APPROXIMATELY 15 Km (10 miles)”

Thanks Johnny,yes it does.Good point,will check.

Certainly that’s the case with my 2024 V7 - manual says to check the oil level after at least ten minutes of urban riding (not just idling).

Make sure you are on level ground with the bike upright when checking.

I had the same issue after a main dealer service - too much oil. I too bought a syringe and drew the excess out so the level now sits bang in between min and max lines and I check after every ride as it’s a good habit to get into.

My bike will be out of warranty before the next service so I won’t trouble the main dealer again and will either service myself or get the local trusted mechanic to do bits.

Isn’t it the case that it should be checked hot as the oil will have expanded? My v85tt level drops when cold to about mid point in the window.

Interesting little conundrum to me at least? Allowing that these engines run hot, the V100 takes more oil than my 2.2 litre diesel car running significantly higher compression ratio? Maybe I need edookashun?

no engineer, me but… how is the oil in your car cooled vs that on your v100?

Yeah it has an integrated cooler piggybacking on engine coolant. Of course the cylinder block is not sitting out in the fresh air as also is the oil pan on the bike. Shrugs?

Just seems to me twice the volume of oil for cylinder size? Honestly curious why it needs so much.
