I have bee suffering from buffeting when motorway riding both with the standard screen fitted with a wind deflector and then trying the touring screen with the wind deflector, although the touring screen is better suited for me. So I thought I try a little experiment. I taped the top of the cut outs either side of the front tank and it works, no turbulence! Since then I’ve been looking at the inserts available which bolt straight in but still allow enough clearance when the forks are on full lock. Can anyone recommend a seller?
Apparently MG have now solved this issue on the E5+ model through design.
there are a few links posted already in this section, to different products, various names for them but commonly called mickey mouse ears or rabbit ears
Interesting!
Also worth knowing that, If you remove the screen and its support frame completely it gives you ‘cleaner’ air round your head which reduces the turbulence and wind noise (on my e5 that works up to 75mph)
I’ve tried various solutions, mainl6 in pursuit of a quieter ride rather than buffeting : big screen; MRA flip; those tank deflectors, Palmer products bracket (link to follow) all set on high or low or in between. None made that much difference. What is best though is a Calsci small screen + the tank deflectors + (I think) the Palmer products bracket - I haven’t ridden enough with/ without the bracket and the Calsci screen to be sure. But the small screen in by far the best way to remove turbulence and noise.
I genuinely believe there’s something fundamentally flawed in design of the V85 that creates noise. Yet I’ve owned it 6 years so it’s obvs not that bad.
