Tyre Pressures - V7i& V7ii - Special

On my V7i the tyre pressures were 2.2 bar, front and back. With a passenger it was 2.5. Metzeler Lasertec were the OE tyres. Following articles in Gamabalunga, these were changed to Bridgestone Battlax BT45, still using the same tyre pressures.

On the V7ii the tyre pressures are 2.5 bar, front and back, going up to 2.6 bar with a passenger. Pirelli Sport Demons are the OE tyres.

I have only done a 100 miles on the new V7ii, and all I can say at this stage is that at running in speeds the handling feels a little more lively. Is this due to the different tyres, or the higher tyre pressures, or both ?

Does anyone know why the tyre pressures have been increased ? Is it down to a different make of tyre ?

probably , i used to run Metzelers on my cali @ 32/36 , i changed to BT45’s , and ended up at 34/38 .

BT45’s have always required more psi than other tyres.
I am told it down to the wall construction.
I may have been told wrong.

Hi Jef
I was also baffled by this difference in reccommended pressures. I have never owned a bike fitted with inner tubes that runs at such a high pressure. The tyres feel rock hard. I run them a couple of psi lower than the manual says. My Guzzi dealer and the local bloke who I get my tyres from both say follow the manufacturer’s reccommendation, though.

So what are the tyres of choice for the wire wheeled V7s then? The Pirelli Sport Demons that are standard on my V2 Special are not bad at all really. Except they feel rock hard even when underinflated a bit. What should I replace them with next time round?

BT45’s.
They grip as well as I can ride and give 10,000 miles front and rear.

BT45, I’ve had the pillion foot heat shields on the exhaust down. Far better tyre than the bike.
