Tyres....replacements

I’ve heard brilliant things about ContiClassicAttacks and have been desperate to try them. I normally ride one size up ( 120 ) on the back there, and so have been thinking of trying the Conti front, Phantom back combo. Long time SportDemon on both LM1 and Darmah, but looking for something more modern.

Very interesting about the tubeless fit. Can you advise about the valves and achieving the airtight fit in the rim well? Are they metal with sealing gaskets, or car type rubber valve bodies? I guess the risk is if an obstacle or manoevre should push the bead off such that the air can escape. But so much better for ride quality and puncture repairs. Do you have to top up air pressure any more than usual? Thanks for anything on these points.

Valve aperture on rear wheel was damaged and has been repaired with epoxy metal.
Will need to get it welded or get another wheel at some point.

Does anyone know what the hole diameter in the cast rim is? Will a standard 11.3 mm rubber valve body fit or is it something else? We gotta know!

And Alastair…what was it that damaged that valve aperture? Not, hopefully, the attempt to fit the valve???

I’ve got some screw-in type tubeless valves, but their seating washers are made to fit a 10.5mm hole.

Not sure as I didn’t fit the tyres myself - my chum had his nephew do his LM wheels with the same tyres and mine.

I believe the original tubed valve was badly corroded and that had damaged the aperture in the wheel.

Aah, now I see. You’ve actually got a ContiRoadAttack on the front, with the ClassicAttack on the back. This was a combo I’d figured might be workable for me.

I got one of those less than 10 miles after a new set of rubbers. Thought it was slippery new tyre syndrome. Tyre shop was suprised to see me so soon.
