As an aside did you do it with the Dettol hot or cold?[/QUOTE]
Put it in cold and let it runs for 4 minutes.
Not sure how many times the fluid could be used as it gets dirty very quickly. Guess this shows that it’s working!

Aldi selling ultrasonic cleaners on Sunday 26th £22.99. Small capacity, 600 ml.

OK TA

Do what, reuse the same Dettol? You can get a big bottle for refills from your friendly local neighbourhood supermarket for pennies. Well not quite, but you know what I mean.

You don’t get anything big in the local neighbourhood supermarket for pennies these days. Come to that you don’t get anything small either.
Just in case anyone thought it was a serious comment.Brian UK2014-01-25 09:26:00

Gordon Bennett, hence my “Well not quite, but you know what I mean.” It was a joke.

I have read that cola does a good job in an ultrasonic cleaner but have not tried it.

Good call for rusty bits. Haven’t tried it with greasy parts but…
Have fun
Steve

cola!! well I wouldnt be surprised…I used some jizer in mine and on hot too…cleans carbs in about 30mins…
hmm wonder what the flash point of jizer is…

I wonder if it tastes as bad as Cola?

When using detol/pine-sol/jizer etc, what concentration is being used? Neat?

With seaclean just a few cap full is recommended.
I notice that seaclean smells very like many automotive cleaner/degreaser, anyone tried these?

Hi Lawrie
Just spotted your question;
I’m using pine the Dettol neat for ingrained stuff (muck & oil in exposed threads) and 50/50 for lighter stuff (general cleaning of s/s bolts etc)
Will look up seaclean.
All the best

I have always used distilled water rather than tap water then dried with the airline and sprayed stuff with acf50

Or you could always make your own cleaner, Blue Peter style.
