I never stopped riding and was converted back to centre stands some time ago. The day to day convenience (especially on chan drive bikes) is just so extreme. getting round the bike in a family-packed garage, loading the bike, working on the bike with things level and n paddock stand in the garage gives one less thing to trip over 
IMHO unless I was on a track it is **$?ing hard to ground the centre stand. And if i managed to grind it hard enough to worry I was on the way to falling off anyway
