Hi all, as newcomer to the Mandello I wanted to find out your thoughts and experience with the aero flaps and whether you fell they achieve anything at all or not. So far I have not found that I have noticed any difference when they are open or closed and would be particularly keen to know therefore if they have any impact at deflecting the rain off you. If they have no practical use I may just set them to off (albeit the danger then is that the joints seize up) 
In heavy rain they “may” keep some of the rain off but as I’ve not switched them off in rain I couldn’t really say for sure.

I must reluctantly conclude that they are, basically, a gimmick.
Yes, they deflect a tiny amount of wind and rain, but it’s so small, and not in an area I care about, that they basically do nothing useful in my opinion.
However, there’s no point in switching them off, because they do no harm, either. I just let mine do their thing. I don’t want to risk them seizing up through lack of use.
