V100 Immobiliser, switch off on ferry?

I’ve ordered a Mandello S and got to wondering if you need to do anything with the immobiliser when on a channel ferry?

Hi and welcome! Sorry I don’t know the answer but I don’t think the immobiliser is motion activated. Far as I know it simply will not run the engine without a chipped key recognised?

I get your question though as had a couple of cars that I had to deactivate the alarm as the sea motion would keep triggering them. Hang for a bit and somebody will chime in hopefully.

Quick phone call to a dealer might get you an answer sooner?

Thanks, I was wondering if it was only a ‘key present’ type of thing like my old 1200 Breva as that makes like a lot easier!

immobiliser isnt the same thing as an alarm

I dont turn the alarm on, when I’m on a ferry. the immobiliser is automatically activated when you take the key away and you don’t have a way to stop that, the rfid chip is in the key and needs to be near the dash for the immobiliser to deactivate. it doesn’t do anything except prevent the engine starting, you can wheel the bike around with no key, without any problems.

edit:with a v85 the alarm is an option extra not standard, AFAIK v100 it is also not standard. if you didn’t add an alarm, you dont need to do anything on the ferry except strap your bike down

Cheers, I was assuming it wasn’t a movement detection thing but we all know about assuming stuff….. Also my last bike had a tracker which needed to be deactivated on the ferry which set me to thinking which is not always a good thing!

Thanks for the info chaps, I just need to get my grubby mits on the bike!
