Hi all, new member here. I purchased a 2023 V100S with 7000 Kms from a Triumph dealer in Germany and got it shipped to Ireland. Took it out for it’s first run and battery light came on after 10 mins and bike cut out shortly after and would not start due to flat battery. Replaced the battery with same output 12V AGM and the same thing happened again so I’ve noticed that when you switch ignition on the battery light is not illuminated on TFT but then comes on after the bike has been running 10 mins and if you continue to ride, the bike cuts out and won’t start or turn over as battery is completely drained. Any advice sincerely appreciated
Possibly alternator or the belt it’s at the Back of the engine. check the wiring and connections
Just had similar on my nevada. The wires too the connector below the headstock were butned and corrroded.local bike shop cut them back and fitted new connectors. This cost a 6hour wait for AA on Saturday

Will do, thank you for this suggestion. Alternator looks difficult to get at but I have downloaded a workshop manual and I’m pretty handy with tools so I’ll let you know on this forum how I get on.

On such a new bike my money is on the cleaner at the bike dealer spraying it with silicone polish for sale prep…and covering the alternator belt with slippy stuff.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. However I would have thought the battery light would still illuminate with ignition on but that’s not happening on my TFT, battery light comes on after 10-15 mins running and if I don’t get home within a similar timeframe it stalls and needs a charged battery to get it going again. Each time I charge the batteries after this occurs (I have 2 on the go) they are fully drained….
Sounds like a faulty alternator.

If you are putting in a new fully charged battery and it still happens quickly there has got to be either an open circuit killing it or a shorted connection I’d have thought but I am no sparky I admit. The alternator or the belt still high on the list though. What a pain in the backside!

Hi Omegad, as you have a workshop manual I would suggest you check through the wiring diagram as well as the list of fuses and their function. I have a 1200 Stelvio and there is a 35 amp fuse, that when failed, results in the battery not being charged. The result then is exactly as the problem you are facing. The fuses on the Stelvio are not all in one area and finding them all was a challenge. This may be the same on the V100. Hope this helps. Cheers Phil

Problem solved ! 40A main fuse blown, thanks to everyone for your contributions and in particular Phil Skinner who was right on the money ! Bike is now charging fine with no parasitic draw while powered off as indicated by ammeter clamp and a charging voltage of 14V. Much appreciated ![]()

Hi Omegad, glad to hear you have solved the problem. It would be useful to others to know what caused that fuse to fail, (on my Stelvio 1200 it was a short within one of the spotlights) also it would help to know what items are on that 40amp fuse circuit. Cheers Phil
Hi Phil, that fact that the fuse hasn’t blown since I took the bike out for a test ride is encouraging so I am hoping the reason it failed was a bothched up jump start prior to me getting the bike. From what I can gather that main fuse is linked to almost all circuits on the bike, TFT instrument cluster, ECU, Regulator/rectifier, cooling fan, ABS module, fuel system include ride by wire throttle, ignition system and like you already mentioned the lighting circuit via secondary fuses. Was there any corrosion evident on the old fuse? My reason for asking is the 1400’s had a problem of fuse and holder overheating due to building resistance and then heat build up. Victims took to changing battery 40 amp fuse block to a separate one; and the wiring if overly affected.
A benefit of this was “back to normal” charging voltage (~13.4 ^ 14.2). Just wondered if your motorcycle had maybe been sitting in slightly damp environment before you took ownership.
Of course, may have no bearing whatsoever, just mildly curious as I would suspect similar fuse blocks being sourced by Piaggio.
