V100 Mandello S - spare key recognition

Morning all. Having recently bought a great used Mandello s (2024) with only one working key (previous owner has lost the spare), I have purchased a new chipped key blank from Piaggio. Had it cut and then attempted to get the bike to recognise it/pair with it in the belief that this can be achieved through the dash menu. Followed various online suggestions and the short of it is that I can start the bike with the key if I put my code in, but it won’t pair properly with the new key and brings up the “Alarm Immo B003” code.

So, does anyone know if it can be done or this this a locked out/dealer only feature?

the v85 has chipped keys and the manual says dealer only, however that doesn’t mean it really is dealer only, if you can find a place that recode car keys they should be able to tell you if they can reflash your key too.

Hope this helps - it did me !

Thank you for taking the time to reply Gentlemen. I have tried the various methods/suggestions that people have used on earlier Guzzi’s, but it seems that the Mandello’s user manual may be correct in that it’s a dealer job to program additional keys. I hope the missing second key isn’t going to mean that it can’t be done. I will try cloning the working key into the new key I’ve bought. I’ll try our local Timsons as has been suggested.

I really think you have to go to the dealer and have it coded

Yes, I suspect that you are correct. They can do it, for a considerable fee of course :grimacing:

I tried asking AI, it gave 3 options, it said using the code menu on v100/v85 with the blank key will allow it to be verified to the bike, using the existing key, then the blank key. i have used the menu myself to change the code, then reset it because of course I ended up forgetting the code  I don’t remember seeing an option to match a new key but i wasn’t using one, just my own 2 keys. I did have to insert both keys one after the other so maybe that is the same process that registers the keys.

it said dealers usually charge 1 hour labour for coding a new key.

or… a locksmith can clone the existing key so the bike doesn’t see 2 keys, just thinks there is 1 key as both have the exact same digital ID.

found this while i was searching for more information on DIY key cloning, never used them myself, but might be worth giving them a call?

Wouldn’t it be easier to ring a dealer…??
