V100 (Stelvio) Hi Beam Trigger

I have a V100 Stelvio.

Already installed is a Denali “Dial Dim” controller, and associated Denali S4 spot lights.

Being a considerate rider, I only use the S4’s at 15% intensity during the day as DRL’s so as not to dazzle (at 100% they are VERY bright!).

On my V85TT I had the same setup, but had the Hi Beam connected, so the S4’s came on 100% when flashing or on Hi beam…

It appears the V100 is not so straightforward, using a 0v trigger (some CANBUS thingy I assume) between the Hi/Lo switch on the bars (red box “6” in the diagram below) and the LED headlight module in the front fairing… I’ve looked at the workshop manual and the wiring diagram and can’t work out how to get a Hi beam trigger…

Has anyone managed to find a work-around? I see Denali offer a “wiring adapter that will allow Denali lights to change intensity with your factory high beam switch” (see https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/2366627 - often used on bikes like Africa Twins I believe).

Wiring diagram shows what appears to be a 0v trigger (yellow wire below) from switch to headlight:

Can anyone offer any advice please?

I know nothing about it but is the 0V on the yellow wire constant while high beam is selected, if yes, maybe have it operate a relay?

Thanks Mike
I think we’re of the same view - it has to be a specific relay (like the Denali one), most relays I have ever used need 12v…

I was assuming 12V between an ignition key source and the yellow wire, is this not the case?

I think so! Just finding courage to give it a go! Wondered if anyone else had done it, and where to pickup the yellow wire.
Guess I’ll just give it a go, and report back whether it kills my CANBUS/melts the loom…or simply just works

Yep, 1 out of 3 possibles… :grinning:
