Recommissioned a V35 Imola that had stood for many years. All fluids replaced and ignition system, carbs cleaned and balance, engine set up works a treat but…..
The gearbox runs through 1st to 5th fine but when changing down baulks from 4th to 3rd. Stop the bike, fiddle with the change, goes into third, second and first.
Gear linkage is correctly set as gears can be accessed, I have tried to finely adjust the gearbox adjuster bolt but with no success! Am I looking at a gearbox removal? Or can anyone suggest a fix.
What sort of gearbox oil did you use?
Have you checked the level of the oil in the box, after standing (cold)?
Might be worth a complete drain of the box, then a refill with a moly additive before considering a remove and strip.
Thanks for responding. Already replaced the oil with the recommended type and added a moly supplement and at correct level.
I have been adjusting the bolt which affects the gearbox pawl and it does make a difference - the gearbox works well when the engine is running and stationary but still baulks between 4th and 3rd when on the road. I will try further adjustment - just a pain as battery and tray needs to be removed to access bolt for adjustment.
