The speedo drive box on these seems to be made of some kind of cheese and is prone to seizing. I repack with grease at annual service, and just soft solder a new tang on every time it gets torn off.

Whatever is to hand, a bit of tin can if you can find one where the metal is thick enough. It soft solders easy enough.
