V50iii (Police) sidestand/propstand cutout

Hi all.
As I get older, having increasing problems heaving bike onto centre stand to start/keep running due to sidestand cutout. Can bypass by unplugging (suicidal, as once police sidestand down, it’s really down & will catapult you into oncoming traffic on left handlers).
The switch is activated by lowering stand, which powers a relay which breaks the ?LT side of the ignition.
I was trying to emulate my old Jap bikes so I can run in neutral on sidestand, but having it cut out if dropped into gear with stand down.
Tried to bypass sidestand switch when bike in neutral using a powered feed to relay, earthing via neutral switch. Ended up having a bike I could start in every gear, side stand down, EXCEPT in neutral!
No wiring diagrams anywhere to show police setup & local auto electrician has given up.
Any ideas? Driving me nuts now.

Cheers, Matt

Hi,
There is an ignition feed to the neutral warning light and the wire then goes to the neutral switch. The relay needs to be fitted between the light and the switch. The relay will operate when the bike is in neutral. If you use a 5 pin relay you can choose how you wire the LT and side stand.

Cheers Steve.
I’ll have a conflab with electrician & hopefully a Cunning Plan will form…
May involve me inserting fireworks into disgruntled electrician

That’s a cunning plan lol
What you want to do is fairly straightforward so a competent electrician should be able to sort.

I did this once on a Meriden Triumph 750. Forgot to pull the stand up when setting off. Luckily, the 1st left hander had a small lane straight ahead that I could use as an “escape lane”, cos no way was it wanting to go around the bend. More luckily still, there was no other traffic

Baldrick has a story of someone he warned off on this one, who he was later questioned about as the straightforward disconnect he still undertook against B’s advice resulted in rider killing himself in oncoming traffic 6 months later.

I just thought, you could unplug the sidestand switch but then have it sound a buzzer or something like that. Or a red panel lamp. (?)

The difference here is that your cutting the ignition if the side stand is down AND the bike is put in gear.

Buzzer is a good fallback plan if I can’t sort the neutral/sidestand down/engine running conundrum…
