I bought a 2022 plate V7 850 Special with just over 2k on the clock. It had been running great with no issues. Around the 4200k mark it developed the tank vacuum and possibly connected or not began feeling ‘hesitant’ on a constant throttle at any revs.
I took it to my local independent mechanic Roddy at Knowes Mill Motorcycles (East Linton)… He did a complete evap delete then hooked it up to the diagnostic machine and reset all the parameters throttle position sensor etc.
What a difference! No longer hesitant or rough but back to a joy to ride and eager on the throttle. Shout out to Roddy, he does a marvellous job and is a good bloke to boot. Here’s to many happy miles.
Thanks for posting. I’m amazed it waited that long (4.2k), mine did it from brand new! I sucked it up (to borrow an American expression) but this year finally got the ache with it so cut the hose below the solenoid valve (under left side panel), and shoved an M8 bolt up it. Sorted. Only thing left now is to cut the hose to the tank, to prevent it pressurising (hisses when cap removed). Should be noted though mine only did the hesitancy thing after a cold start, but it was a pain.
It’s such an unnecessary thing on a bike , the evap. Mine has been removed completely. It’s actually booked in for the 6200 mile service in a few weeks and Roddy will do the diagnostic magic after the valves have been checked. It can only get even better! Safe riding
