Has anyone modified the choke lever on their V7 Classic? I’m wary of the 15 year old plastic handlebar lever breaking due to becoming brittle over time.
Any ideas gratefully received.
Thanks.

Is yours stiff to operate.?
Mine moves freely while remaining in whatever position I set.
I can’t imagine it needing enough force I’d likely snap it.
As an aside…
I do use it to maintain the idle, without giving the bike a little extra ‘tickle’ via the ‘choke’ lever when left to tick over, I find my 2010 V7 Classic hiccups and misses a few times, before it finally stalls after a couple minutes.
It is not a “choke” per say. It is a high tick-over, and does nothing to the mixture. A small twist of the throttle will achieve the same result. It is just more convenient to be hands free while we glove and helmet.
Thanks. Realised it isn’t a choke but main concern is old plastic part becoming brittle and breaking due to age. Starting with slightly opened throttle always works but just need to keep open or “blipping” until engine begins to warm.
Only posted to see if any other owners had a more reliable option than a plastic lever (which would be a mega expensive Guzzi part I’m sure).
Thanks anyway.
I have run a Breva 750 2006, and still run a V11 masquerading as a 2003 and a 2007 Nevada with no issues, and none of them are/were garage queens.
That’s good to know and gives me confidence. Had a look via Google this morning and there are reasonably priced third party alternatives should the worse happen. I think I was worrying about having to source a genuine replacement Guzzi part and the likely cost - just had a look at the cost of a simple silencer bushing and these are a whopping £16.50 each!
Cheers,
Keith
p.s. Nice collection of Guzzi models you have there!
Thanks. I only listed the ones relevant to high tick over levers.
Based on the equation “= n + 1”, one too few.
Only had it 2 weeks - sold my white one when it arrived as didn’t have room for two in garage.
White one was nice too but the “new” one is in showroom condition and less than 10,000 miles.
Yours looks good too - was thinking about Dart Flyscreen as screen it arrived with was not to my taste. Took luggage rack off too so mine is standard currently.
That’s interesting, l wondered why my classic california th fuel injection needed a choke at all. Now it makes sense as a speed up tickover. My first bike with injection was a Ducati SP3 didn’t need this.
Every day’s a school day.
