Can anyone suggest a company that might undertake a rebuild of my V7 gearbox?
The box has done less than 6000 miles but has decided to eat one of it’s needle roller bearings. I have the gearbox out of the bike but looking at the amount of filings and needles I have found on the input side I have gone no further with the strip down. Also input shaft is notchy and making clicking sounds when turned by hand.
I am unable to find a manual for this bike 2015 V7 stone non-ABS 5-speed.
Alternatively does anyone have a second hand gearbox for a 750 small block?
Will the 6-speed box from a later V7 fit?
Where in the country are you Paul?
NBS in Staffordshire. Nigel is a Guzzi gearbox guru.
Hi Chris, I am in Corby, Northamptonshire
Thank you Horton
I would also suggest Nigel at NBS then, if you were in the south of the country Baldrick would be your man. IMHO
Best of luck Chris
Thank you Chris
I am waiting to see what the dealer says about it as I took it back shortly after I bought it and their warranty workshop said that it was a dry clutch rumble even though I suggested that it was a bearing failing
Ooooh, that’s not good. Hopefully the dealer will attend to it.
If you do need a garage to do a repair, Twiggers in Loughborough are very good and not too far from you.
I’d not bother trying to fix it as they can be had cheaply enough now that you have it out
These guys are well known for good guzzi parts
Try Baldrick in the back pages of the mag, give him a ring and sound him out. Dave R
Thank you everyone for the input. The dealer has now taken the gearbox into their workshop for repair. Not sure that I trust them but I have to give them the chance to sort it out. When I dropped off the gearbox the “mechanic” kept saying that the problems described (grinding noise from the transmission stiff gearchange, impossible to get neutral with the engine running and a machine gun like noise in 5th gear) sounded like clutch drag not a gearbox issue which really fills me with confidence in light of the fact that he had seen the photos of the damage.
Time will tell, but to be honest I have fallen out of love with the bike and will probably get rid of as soon as I get it put back together. Not sure that I will get another Guzzi, but if I do it will not be a V7
