Hi, has anyone had a problem with the low fuel light staying on with a full tank. I’ve not used my V7 since getting it mot’d in January and took it out today and the fuel light came on as I set off. Although I thought it was fairly full, I went for petrol anyway and only managed to put a few litres in. The light came back on as I left the petrol station and stayed on for the rest of an afternoon’s ride.
I’ve looked up the sensor and it looks like it’s part of the fuel pump assembly and I can’t find it listed separately on fowlers parts website. The fuel pump assembly is £500+ 
Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it? 
my pump and sensor on v85 were replaced under warranty, I didn’t see anything wrong with it but mechanic at dealer said something wasn’t right and ordered a new one.
unfortunately the replacement arrived with a broken sensor, and he broke mine removing it, so i had to ride around for another 5 or 6 weeks with no fuel gauge/light at all and just count the milage to work it out.
the replacement does not read any different to the first one, it still puts a low fuel warning up when there is a least a gallon left in the tank, usually if I fill up as soon as the light comes on I can only get 14 litres in to a 23 litre tank…
anyway my point is they do seem to be all one unit, and a bit fragile. not sure if you can clean yours and free any moving parts up, rather than having to spend 500 on a replacement 
Thanks for your info, quite unbelievable that it’s not sold separately. I can find one for an earlier V7 but I’ve no idea whether it would be compatible or not. It seems the earlier ones were screwed to the pump assembly but the later ones riveted. If that’s the only reason it’s not sold separately then I’m sure I can sort it. But these are an unbelievable £100 as well, ok if they’re the same? There are a few second hand pump assemblies on eBay for circa £100 but will have a go at cleaning it first. Hopefully it’s just because it’s been standing a few months and maybe a bit corroded?
And the V7 light comes on way too early as well…. must be a Guzzi thing 
with the crap in E10 petrol the sensor may have suffered a bit if left standing, I’ve had a fuel line split on my cali because it’s been left standing too long and it only ever had e5 put in once I got it, I don’t know what was put into it before.
I’ve always put super unleaded in it though, and had it from new. But as that’s E5 I’ve used a stabilizer when it’s left over winter. I’m now wondering if that’s caused it to fail 
I have seen a place in netherlands discussed in this forum in relation to repairing rev counters on older guzzis, I wonder if fuel sensor repairs are something they can do too
I was under the impression that the fuel light indicated there were 5 litres of fuel left giving me bout 50 miles to find some fuel.
When E10 and E5 fuel became available, manufacturers had long since been aware of the changes and designed vehicles accordingly, so I wouldn’t expect it to cause any problems in a modern bike. Other than E10 fuel going off much quicker.
