I think they look uncomfortable, but I saw one parked outside a pub here one day with french number plate so they can’t be that bad if he rode the whole way here from France lol
From memory the original chrome tanks were a problem but one was once entered into a VMCC concourse competition and won a prize for the best cafe racer! I believe the judges didn’t know it was a factory model.

They are more comfortable than they appear, the pictured one having Ohlins suspension at the rear which given their reputation, I suspect made for a more comfortable ride. Coming from France, I suspect they wish they were riding the V85 to cope with our dreadfully pothole ridden roads!

Your memory serves you well. Mallory Park VMCC Festival of 1000 Bikes a few years ago. The racer was parked up and caught the eye of the judges.
And the tanks were fragile.
A club member ride his V7R two up from Scotland to Italy and back. Maybe it’s age related😀

I personally think the V7 maybe a better road bike than the rather tall, top heavy V85…
