V7 Special Front Brake.

I’m currently working on a friend’s 1969 V7 Special.
The main job is sorting the Front Brake (sound familiar?).
Shoes are away getting relined.
I’m also making up a new Cable, the old one wasn’t horrendous, but I thought I may as well get everything as good as possible.

Made up a Tool for doing the Cable Ends.
You can buy them, but they’re one of those “HOW MUCH?” items.

The drilling for the Cable Clamping (2.5mm) went a bit off-line, but it works OK.
I’ll add other sizes as and when needed.

Quite pleased with how well it works.

Nice work Doc

Nice job. I’m thinking about having a go at making the cables for my Stornello projects as I am going to need quite a few and will cost a bit to get them all made up as specials.

Might as well.
Got most of the bits (Nipples, Trumpets, Outer Sleeve and Liner) from Venhill.

They didn’t have stock of the 2.5mm Inner I needed, so went with Motorcycleproducts.co.uk

I’d recommend a Solder Pot as well, around £15, makes a really nice job.

Solder to use is ‘Tinmans’ Solder, comes in a thick Bar.
You’ll also want some Bakers Fluid for cleaning the Parts before soldering, and a good quality Solder Paste.

Resin-cored solder is too ‘soft’.

Found the video I was looking for earlier, shows the process nicely.
