V7iii led bulb replacements

Evening all. Looking at what I think is the relevant wiring diagram, the lighting circuits don’t appear to be CANBUS. If that’s the case, I think I can stick in a led tailbulb etc without the bike throwing a fit (unlike my mate’s newish Beemer).
Are ballast resistors required? If so, not worth the faff.
All thoughts gratefully received.
Cheers, Matt

Hi Matt my EV1100 is 20 years old and I have added to the front 2 LED 30W each lights which I added into the headlight x2 Philips LED adapter CANbus 12W to stop hyperflash plus added a main LED headlight bulb plus an extra rear tail and brake light plus a LED bulb in the original rear brake and tail light.

Thanks Richard- I think the hyperflash is due to the low resistance of led bulbs confusing the flasher unit on older bikes- I think on newer CANBUS bikes, you get all sorts of warning lights going off & general misbehaviour (even with a ballast resistor), as the CANBUS electronics won’t recognise the heretical new component. The new V7 is partially CANBUS, but that’s even more bloody confusing…
Like you, I think I’ll just give it a go if don’t hear to the contrary. If it tolerates a led tail light, it should take a led headlight.

Hi
I’ve fitted LED bulbs to my indicators on my V7 Mk2. Was getting fed up of trying to find replacement bulb RW10S? Apologies if i got that wrong. Liked the later arrow design led indicators but Guzzi wanted stupid money, So I thought change bulb first before moving onto replacement indicators if needed. The led bulbs are brighter and can bus type. so far nothing has gone haywire. Advised by Guzzi mate to change LED where possible but things different in OZ I believe? Be seen always good. Can send photo when i find it. lol.

I have V7 III diagram, canbus (if it’s applicable here) only comprises of communication between ECU and dash, all least being ‘traditional’, however for indicators there are 4 separate wires coming out the dash, one for each lamp, it’s not simply a case of coming straight off the indicator switch. I think the V7 III uses filament bulbs for indicators?
On my V7 850 E5 they’re LED, but the arrangment is the same (4 wires out of dash), might be able to power filament bulbs but I don’t know, however if one lamp is open circuit you get the fast flashing warning on the other lamp. Maybe yours is the same, if so, won’t need ballast resistors, if the dash detects a lamp is out simply by no load to ground on any one wire. Only one way to find out!
