I currently have the standard seat and so far after a couple of thousand miles its ok. But the longest ride is probably only about 150 miles in a day.
However, this summer i’m off touring in france, so i wondored, does the comfort seat make a big difference or am i better just fitting a cool cover or both?
I purchased a comfort seat for my V85 but not much better than the standard, I would go for a wind rider seat cover or similar not too expensive easy to fit and in my opinion better comfort than the guzzi comfort seat.
I think the Guzzi comfort seats should be renamed less rubbish seats. I use one with a cool cover and its ok. Just.
I was out in Spain last week on a hired 650 V Strom. It had some miles on it and both myself and my wife couldn’t believe how comfortable it was. 250 kilometres a day no problem. A major seat rebuild is on the cards on my bike.
I have done 550 miles a day on a v85 and was in pain on the return journey so bought an air cushion seat when I was passing SBS. I don’t fit this all the time because in waterproofs I slide about so for short journeys or 50/50 weather fun rides or commuting i dont bother. For long journeys now I almost always use it, even if raining, as for long journies I’m riding slower/less aggresive to save fuel. It makes a huge difference, I recently did 320 miles round trip using it and no back problems at all, only one brief stop on the way there to put the waterproofs on.
much cheaper than a new seat, takes virtually no space if you want to carry it in a bag/top box or even deflated rolled up under the seat. weighs next to nothing.
Thanks guys, i was thinking is it better to get the comfort seat with a cool rider, i dont find mine too bad tbh or just have the seat rebuilt.
Any ideas on cost to rebuild or who best to use?
