Hoping someone has a quick and easy answer to my issue. Fingers crossed here goes.
Wore my new adventure boots today instead of my “Street” motorcycle trainer boot things. With my trainers I can get my foot under the gear selector pedal no issue. However, with the adv boot the toe must be higher and not able to get my foot fully under the selector. I managed today by just getting the rubber tread part under and putting enough pressure to be able to lift the lever. But going forward that’s not a great way to do things.
is there a way to adjust the height of the gear selector? I’ve already rotated the peg on the selector to its top position. I’m just wondering if there is the selector itself can be adjusted in a similar way to the foot brake pedal.
There is a link rod running almost vertically from the other end of the brake lever behind the footrest plate. The rod has a lock nut at each end - when they are loose rotating the rod raises or lowers the gear lever picture below.
Its quite difficult to get to the top ball joint so I find it easier to adjust with the lower ball joint, firstly put back the small wire retainer clip from the circumference of the ball joint, now pull the pin up from the small hole that locks the ball in place in its housing and pull the ball out from the housing, slacken the locking nut and unscrew this should give you enough space to get your boot under. Don’t unscrew to much you need enough threads still inside the threaded sleave of the housing. Not sure you needed an explanation but you got one anyway.
