V85TT Insurance

Evening All,

I’ve just had the renewal quote through for a 25 plate V85TT. They are asking £500 for a bike that garaged, only does 5000miles and has a disc lock on it.

Any idea if Members get any discount with certain providers? Think I’ll be shopping around this year.

Renewal quotes nowadays are almost always worthy of disdain. Bikes or cars I gave up expecting to stay with an existing policy years ago. It is usually pointless. Next week, a month early, I will be back on the comparison site looking for the cheapest offer.

The law says I must have insurance. No way around that. I have been buying it for getting close to 60 years for two and four wheels and in all that time benefitted from one single claim.

It’s a percentage game and as long as the most competitive offer is not obviously dodgy I am on it. Forget all the daft add ons too. All they do is hike you back up to where you started. If I was one of the swanky better heeled folks around maybe I’d splash for the five star treatment but I still doubt it.

Look at it this way? What is the difference between Claridges and Motel 6 when it comes down to it? If it’s clean, got a bed and a lavvy it does the job. Choose up sides. :face_with_tongue:

I’m with BikeSure at the minute. But maybe going in through a link will give a better answer.

I’m new to this site but have been insuring bikes for a very long time (like many here). I use QUIDCO, which has saved me loads over the years. It does a comparison process and also gives you cash back (usually £23). In 2012, I actually got my Honda C90 insured in London fully comp, for -£5 (they paid me) due to an initial cheap price and 2 cash backs, one being from QUIDCO. Even the average comparison sites take a huge cut of the cost of the policy. I agree with the other contributors - never, ever use an insurance renewal as they are usually trying it on. Always do your research. Best of luck!

Hmm I am with Bikesure also this year but due for renewal next month. Reminder to check out the discount worthiness?
