V85tt no power on full throttle

Hi I’m new to MOTO GUZZI my V85tt E5 been my first MG. What I have noticed is if I accelerate with little throttle opening the bike seems to pick up ok ish but if you go for an overtake and open throttle wide it doesn’t seem to want to go but makes a lot of induction noise as if it is restricted.
I have done de cat (sounds better) with no real improvement I’m guessing it needs more air and fuel. I’ve looked at the v twin boost plug and the rapid bike evo kit but not sure which way to go I don’t want to spend £120 on boost plug just to trick the ecu if it doesn’t cure my problem I would rather put the money towards a £300 rapid bike evo.
Has anyone else had this issue and cured it
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Depends if it is actually losing all power or just weaker than you think it should be. If it is a total loss of power get a dealer to check the last remap was properly done on their PADS system - seems to cost around £70 to get done.

If this is your first Guzzi they can feel lethargic while actually covering the ground quickly. In particular the power curve on the small block engines (like the V85TT) is a bit weird and at some points it does generate more noise than power.

I was away on a weekend with 2 x 1250 BMWs last month and the v85 kept up easily, Several times i looked at the speedo to find we were travelling 10-20mph more than it felt like (over 80 on small fun a/b roads)- mind you we were with an ex-racer on a Deauville we couldn’t shake him off either lol.

The ADV thread on the v85 has lots of information and it seems there is not much more power to get

(although Scott -who owns the Guzzi-tech board -makes very big claims for the gear he sells   what a surprise)

Depends what you’ve been used to previously. E.g. you can’t whack the throttle open like you can for CV carbs. It’s just a butterfly valve in a tube and it’s easy to give it too much air suddenly especially if not revving enough. Kind of like a non-CV carb, where the thottle pulls the slide up, works best if you ‘feed it in’ more gradually, I call it ‘chasing the revs’ (rolling on the twistgrip as revs increase). I appreciate V85TT is ‘fly by wire’ so not sure if the ECU modifies the butterfly position versus rider input, depending what else is going on.

Hi guys thanks for your comments I do have other modern bikes with fuel injection and fly by wire throttle. I am not comparing my v85tt performance to my other bikes but I would expect even a 125 to accelerate (at its pace) when you open the throttle.
I was hoping someone else might have experienced my issue with a v85tt and found a cure for it. I will re post when I have mastered mine. Safe riding :motorcycle::motorcycle:

Are the throttles balanced?

It only has a single choke valve so they are both always in balance

Thanks, didn’t realise.

It does need to be spinning at 3000 or more to pick up its skirts and get going. There’s plenty of torque at 2k but…
Find a local with the same bike and ask him or her to have a go to see if you do have a problem.

I find it gets interesting above 3500
