V85tt tyres

What is people’s thoughts & opinions on road tyre replacement for v85tt I have found the standard Dunlop tyre to have good grip in both wet and dry although on my triumph and BMW I fitted Michelin Road 6 and on my smaller BMW which I had I fitted metzler roadtec 01
I generally use this bike all year round so I need a tyre that is good in the cold and wet

the roadtec 01 and road 6 are both good on V85TT, I’ve currently got road 6 and rear needs replaced soon but front will probably do another 4k or more.

I had roadtec 01 on before and preferred them to the road 6, the metzlers felt better in heavy rain, occasionally get a wiggle on corners if its very wet with the road 6.

in the dry they are both great.

OE fitted trailsmart max were great, no longer on sale, meridians were not as good at all, a bit noisy, and worse than the road 6 in rain.

I think mine are the Dunlop trailmax meridian

I would add the roadtec rears don’t last as long and at the end they started wearing very unevenly. road 6 have worn very evenly.

I try and get 8300 miles out of every set of tyres, because the trailsmarts were changed at that. the meridians would have done 9k at least but I changed them early. roadtec only just made that milage and rear was horrible at that stage, front had plenty left, they are a great tyre before they wear out.

if you want consistency right through the life of the tyre at a cost of slightly less good handling, road 6 are a good choice.

It sounds like the road 6 is the best option like I had on my BMW

I find the road 6 very good tyres in both wet and dry. I got just over 5000 miles out of a road 5 back tyre (all A and B roads) The front road six has done 7000 and still ok the back tyre looks like it will last longer than road 5. The road 6 gives lots of feel and that to me is more important than grip.

I followed a weird recommendation for Continental trail attack 3 as a good road tyre.
But they actually are very good: neutral roll in, loads of grip under breaking cornering or acceleration and no funny moments on tarmac lines gravel patches or slippery stuff. (I haven’t used them off road and have no plans to either )

At 3500 miles in they & are wearing 0.5mm for every 1000 miles and i have 5mm left so maybe 6000 more miles before they go bad? If so it will be the longest mileage i have had out of a rear tyre since 1975.
