Anyone had issues with Venhill cables recently? I have owned my T3 Cali from new and had to replace the clutch cable a few times since 1978. They have always had the right size nipples on both ends. To me Venhill were always the top choice for any motorcycle cable but on this new one from Venhill (M06-3-104) there was no rubber sleeve fitted and the nipple on the handlebar end is smaller than it should be. Instead of 13mm long x 10mm diameter it is 10mm long x 6mm with a plastic sleeve taking it to 10mm. This will not sit properly in the cutout in the lever because it is too short. Yes it will work but it ends up jammed at an angle so can’t rotate as the lever is pulled in. Venhill double checked their dimensions, they say they copied an OEM cable and have supplied dozens of these without any complaints. They offered to fit another nipple if I sent it back but won’t cover postage either way. I’m not wasting my time with these people. I’ve ordered another from Gutsibits and I’m just going to send it back for a refund. Has anybody out there actually bought one of these and just fitted it without complaint?
I never buy ready made cables. JJ Cables near Banbury always make mine to a pattern which I provide.(The old cable) I have had problems in the past with cables bought from dealers which have not fitted well, hence getting them custom made.
I use Venhill, but always measure the old cable and send them the dimensions. Just had a perfectly good clutch cable from them,
