Can confirm that the seat is the standard seat (25002233). How much of a difference is it going to make changing the seat for the low comfort seat. I am literally on tip toes, but so far haven’t had too many issues. Only one oh shit moment. When a Tesla driver slammed the anchors on going around a bend as they thought the lorry coming the other way couldn’t get around the corner. Obviously there was load of room. So didn’t get enough time to brake and double check road camber. Almost put the bike down. But managed to shift weight quickly and get more of my foot down on the ground.
I identify with the problem Gabbo, that being the major reason I abandoned my adventure style bike for the Mandello. Exactly that repetitive issue at every stop of being focussed on getting my foot/feet in exactly the right place in order to be stable. Footpeg placement didn’t help forcing me to be either ahead of or behind them. Also the higher centre of gravity of those bikes works against you if you do start to lose balance.
Most of the time you can be optimally prepared in anticipation and being tuned in to surface gradients etc. Like your experience of a sudden emergency stop, that is where it catches you out.
I have to confess I was seduced by the attractions of the ADV styling and the lightness and control of those big wide bars . No argument there. I loved the ‘on the move’ characteristics but failed to acknowledge that I am way less strong these days than I used to be making a stumble/tip over somewhat more challenging to control than before. Dumb choice on my part. The wet weight of the Mandello is almost exactly the same as the outgoing bike but it allows me to flat foot effortlessly at a stop. Priceless.
