Does anyone out there have a copy of this book by Melissa Holbrook Pierson. I’d love to get my hands on a copy, even if just to borrow.
I have ‘The Perfect Vehicle’ if that’s the book under an alternative title? Happy to pass it on if so
Thanks - it’s a great book (I have a copy already), but it’s not the one I’m after. Motorcycles are Magic was published maybe 20 years later.
Interesting - I enjoyed reading “the perfect vehicle” but hadn’t heard of this other title (also: “an anthology”). Scarce info on it - even the author’s own page doesn’t list it amongst her works.
I can’t now remember how I got wind of this book. There is one reference to it on her own website, amongst Other Writing. Which is worth a look because it includes an essay on riding a Norge through the Adirondacks. (I haven’t been able to open ‘Moto Guzzy Rally: A Pilgrimage for the Guzzi faithful’). The essay ‘Connected’ apparently appeared in ‘Motorcycles are Magic’. I contacted the author - she’s super-friendly - and it seems that it was an anthology she privately published in 2021. No copies left, but she said that quite a few had gone to the UK. I’ve got a search logged with Abe Books, but I’m not hopeful.
I would like to read the book if you’re finished with it.
Let me know how you would like for it and the postage to N. Ireland.
Thanks James
Sorry, I don’t have the book - I’m trying to track down a copy. Unless you mean ‘A Perfect Vehicle’? If so, it’s readily available on ebay. (I don’t want to part with my copy, which I will be re-reading at regular intervals.)
Hi Hilary, I found your query because I decided to Google MOTORCYCLES ARE MAGIC again, to see if I could find it. I wanted to buy a copy of the limited run at the time but the cost of postage to here was crazy. Did you ever get sight of a copy? I wonder did anyone in UK purchase it?
